Hello everyone,
Today I thought of helping all you makeup lovers out there in terms of applying your eyeshadow, sharing some tips out of my experience or the way I apply eyeshadows. I think it’s quite clear that majority of us love doing eye makeup as it simply grabs attention or enhances the eye appearance to look beautiful.
Here are 5 tips to consider while applying the eyeshadow:-
- Sponge-tip Applicator: Now before you consider this tip a stupid one, stop and think for a moment, have you ever tried using it the right way? Well I haven’t, that is till recently when I purchased the nykaa eyeshadow I got the tool included in it. I remember during my childhood days while playing or rather applying eyeshadow I would use this applicator to apply but it never looked good. Actually the sponge-tip applicator is good for grabbing shimmer or foil shadows, hence the shadow looks more pigmented on the eyelids. You can use the tip of it for a matte eyeshadow to draw an outline like on the outer corners of your eye and smudge or blend with a brush.
As you can see in the above photo, the first swatch is done using a brush hence a less pigment effect and the the second swatch which is more concentrated is done using a sponge-tip applicator. So do give this tool a try.
- Primer: Use an eyeshadow primer as your base. I have seen many or majority of people out there using concealer as a base or primer for your eye makeup but personally it has never worked for me as it always creases or gets worn off despite setting it. I would always recommend using an eyeshadow primer. There are many brands out there catering to eyeshadow primers, buy the one that suits you. Especially if you have oily eyelids you need one.
- Eyeshadow Brushes: You must invest in good eyeshadow brushes if you want a clean and neat look. For precise application of your matte eyeshadows you need a flat dense sort of a brush to deposit the color and blend with a tapered fluffy brush. I recommend getting the tapered fluffy brush as you can blend in accordance with your eye shape. Get yourself a eyeshadow blending brushes from small ones to medium sizes so that you can add transition shades.
The second brush is a blending brush or the one that is used to buff out transition shades and also for blending outer corner matte shades. The flat brush in the photo is a little stiff and dense, perfect for applying matte eyeshadow or you can add foil shades as well but you can’t blend with it, so you need to go in with another blending brush.
- Your finger: The best way to apply foil or shimmer shades is by using your finger. The pigmentation is opaque while doing so and your eye makeup pops. If you don’t have the time to pick a brush and wet it with some makeup fixing spray or your regular M.A.C fix plus then by all means use your fingers but this cannot be done for matte eyeshadows as that can ruin the whole. Foil shadows tend to be better picked up by the finger to get intensity.
- Setting your primer base with an matte eyeshadow: Never set your eye base with loose powders as it doesn’t help in the eyeshadow. I used to do this and felt my eyeshadow always smudged or faded from the top. After a lot of research saw some influencers with similar issue and suggested using a nude eyeshadow or similar to your eyelid color to set the base. And that actually worked. So do keep this tip in mind.
