Hello lovelies,
Today my thoughts are on the Jeffree Star Cosmetics velour liquid lipstick Gemini. I remember when buying this, I was researching a lot as to which shade would suit my NC 40 skin tone. The velour liquid lipstick range consists a vast collection of shades starting from nudes to dark colors as wells as some very interesting colorful ones including the metallics. My eyes were on calabasas liquid lipstick as well, but finally ended up buying Gemini.

Product Description
According to the brand, this particular liquid lipstick is inspired by the zodiac sign Gemini. Gemini’s are extremely independent which makes them strong in terms of not getting pinned down by any rules or persons. Inspired by Jeffree’s best friend who is a Gemini, this shade is a terra-cotta warm toned nude that compliments any makeup look.
Packaging: The product comes in a transparent tube with a pink cap where by the brand name and star design is printed in pink rose gold. When you dip back the wand in the product, the cap closes with a click sound which aids in a secure lock. The color can be seen through the tube. The packaging is cute and easy to travel with.
Took the above photos in two lightings both natural but the first one gave a warm effect so took a second photo in proper bright lighting.
My Experience
When I look at this color, it doesn’t appear terra-cotta to me but more of a warm nude pink with hints of coral in it. Since I have pigmented lips and a medium complexion, it looks pink nude on me. This liquid lipstick will suit for fair to medium skin tones. On dusky skin tones it may look a little washed out.
The consistency is not so runny and applies smoothly on your lips. It is pigmented but when applying I feel in the first swatch you may not get an opaque coverage, you still need to touch up those areas where you see through your lips, but once done the look comes out fine. The doe foot applicator is nice as it tugs on your lips when applying it. I have tried Kylie’s and Kat Von D ‘s liquid lipsticks so I can tell you that formula wise Jeffree Star’s is more hydrating and comfortable to wear however the Kylie Cosmetics liquid lipsticks are opaque in coverage but can be drying for some of her lipsticks. Although the lighter shades of Kylie’s is not that opaque. So I guess it depends on the colors when making, some can look patchy and may not be opaque. I felt for Jeffree’s liquid lipsticks you get enough time to layer and doesn’t immediately dry out whereas the same thing cannot be said for Kylie’s. Even Kat Von D formula is comfortable but the opacity is similar to Jeffree’s. Gemini is not fully transfer proof but it is transfer resistant, as due to the formula which is hydrating it does fade from the center more when you eat, but nothing that would make you look bad. Without a meal this would last 6 to 7 hours and it doesn’t dry as the day goes by. The price when you compare it to other brands, it is justifiable. You can order their products on their website.
