My Experience
I am always on the lookout for gel type moisturizers more than the cream ones as I feel they are more refreshing and has the ability to get absorbed better due to their light consistency. Being of dry skin, finding the right moisturizer of your preference can be quite a daunting task. I like moisturizers that are light weight with good hydration factor present in it and neutrogena hydro boost gel cream does the job. The product is like a hybrid between a gel and cream. The consistency or texture is very interesting, it’s not fully a gel but the right thickness of the cream is there. Fragrance is not there, I couldn’t smell anything as it does say it is free of it. Definitely light weight and oil free. Now coming to the hydration factor, it does seal in moisture and keep it hydrated, your skin feels plump and healthy.
The two ingredients that draw light to this product are hyaluronic acid and botanical trehalose. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant which helps in absorbing and holding water to replenish your skin. Trehalose is a plant derived powerful ingredient, it is a type of sugar that is used in cosmetics and skincare formulations as a moisture and antioxidant. This particular ingredient also known as ‘resurrection sugar’, helps to resurrect plants and insects when they go through harsh or extreme conditions. Thus infusion of hyaluronic acid and trehalose gives aid to intense hydration. It is a very good moisturizer for dry skin. Those who have oily skin can try the neutrogena hydro boost water gel variant which is more lighter. The price is slightly steep for 50gm, however it is a good quality cream and worth it. I don’t think the gel cream variant is available in India as I have only come across the water gel variant.
