When I used to see influencers or bloggers trying out these rollers, I wondered to myself whether they worked or is it some gimmick. Well finally the curiosity got the better of me and I went and bought one. But before buying one I came across a variety of stone type facial rollers so was confused as to which one would suit my skin. I have seen the spike type stone rollers too and felt why not get that one, so I did.
So why are these jade rollers popular? They say the origin lies in China as it was born with regards to traditional Chinese derma rollers made of jade, or other gemstones such as amethyst and quartz. Well one of the reasons to hype up was due to the fact that these stone roller photos all over social media looked good and it was researched suggesting that major percentage of pins were saved on it a few years back and the beauty industry got wild in leading the way to manufacture it. When an influencer posts a picture using it on Instagram or other platforms like using the tool in flat lay photography, attracts the audience which in turn influences them to buy. And I did feel that is true, as a person who loves skincare and makeup it is obvious that you would end up buying it. But also you do get some benefits of using it.
Another hype or reason for the popularity would be the fact that this tool is used for sculpting your face by massaging it the right way. Hmm…well I wouldn’t say sculpting is a feature that yields a full 100% result but sort of maybe a little. Also a hype suggesting anti aging with massage strokes. Again this I feel isn’t true.
Beauty Benefits
The one main reason of using a jade stone facial roller would be to benefit from its massage to promote blood circulation and stimulating lymphatic drainage. The lymphatic system is a network of vessels that transport lymph which is a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells in your body. It helps to get rid of water, toxins and other unwanted materials. With the help of this tool, the lymphatic massages help stimulate lymphatic system thus aiding in brighter skin and healthy complexion. I do agree with this, as I began to use this tool which is at night after my moisturizer, the massaging did help the product to get absorbed more and the next morning I woke up with brighter and smooth skin. However I wouldn’t say that it will reduce wrinkles or fine lines as when you age at some point of time you are going to get those features but maybe you can slow it down with proper skincare and the use of this tool.
Another benefit of using it is to reduce your puffiness. When your face feels bloated after you wake up or before you go to bed at night this roller helps to de puff as mentioned before, the facial massage promotes blood circulation so your skin will relive itself from stress and the puffiness. One thing to keep in mind is that while using it, make sure you massage it the right way otherwise it may not end up well for your skin.
Forehead : Work the roller by rolling it from the center of your forehead towards your outer temples and repeat atleast five to seven strokes on your left and right. You can do the same on your eyebrows too as I do it, cross or roll from your brows towards the hairline and move it across your forehead.
Neck: With the dual ended roller, you can use the larger side of the stone to move from down to top of your neck using medium pressure. This will stimulate lymphatic system.
Jawline: Start from your chin at the center and roll it towards both sides of your earlobes. This may benefit in the long term to define your jawline feature with dedicated use, however it may not fully yield to the result, as in the end sculpting is something that cannot be done using a massage tool.
Eyes: Again with the dual ended roller, use the smaller side with the stone to roll gently with medium pressure from inner corner of your eye to outer corner and then towards your brow bone back and forth, both sides. If doing in the morning this will enable to de puff your under area.
I use the spike type jade stone roller in my skincare routine about 2-3 times a week. You need to make time with this facial roller or patience when using it. At least 10 minutes of time you need to invest when performing the massage or strokes. The reason I went in for the spike roller was due to its shape, I feel the spike part will enable more blood circulation or stimulate the lymphatic massage which it does. Also when you use a facial oil or moisturizer and then go in with this tool, effects it gives is good, a brighter complexion and healthy look to your skin. The one thing I like when using it is the fact that I feel relaxed and it does help in relieving stress. Another fact when you have a headache or migraine and apply your healing balm and go in with this roller, you will feel so much better as it does help in reducing the ache. The prices for these jade rollers can start from a thousand rupees to probably three thousand and more depending on the stone quality. I got mine from nykaa for around Rs 1060/-.
With constant developing of facial tools, the stone rollers have its popularity and may continue to do so ahead depending on what breakthrough tool is next.
